Stripe’s Tap to Pay for Android is now available in beta for businesses in the US, Canada, the UK, New Zealand, Australia and Singapore.
It supports transactions made with mobile payments such as Google Pay, as well as Mastercard, Visa and American Express debit and credit cards. Merchants can accept contactless in-person payments via these methods using a near-field contact (NFC) enabled Android phone or tablet.
Using Tap to Pay on Android, Stripe says businesses can “build and customise” in-person checkouts without traditional point-of-sale (POS) hardware.
